Russia to Supply Egypt With 15 Ka-52 Alligators by Year-end

Russia will supply Egypt with 15 Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopters (NATO reporting name Hokum B) by the end of this year, Russian Helicopters holding company CEO Andrey Boginsky told Sputnik on Tuesday at the Army-2017 forum.

Overall, under a previously signed contract, Moscow is to supply Cairo with 46 Alligators, Boginsky said.

"In August we plan the delivery of the second batch of three Ka-52s to Egypt, the first three machines have already been delivered — Egyptian specialists are currently being trained on them. Overall, in 2017 there are plans to supply the foreign customer with 15 Ka-52s," he said.

The Ka-52 is capable of flying backwards at speeds of 130 kilometers per hour and sideways at speeds of 100 kilometers per hour as well as performing aerobatic maneuvers.

Russian Helicopters, one of the leading players in the global helicopter industry, the sole Russian rotorcraft designer and manufacturer, was established in 2007.
