Russian Emergencies Ministry’s jet delivers 100 smokejumpers to put out fires in Rostov Region

The Russian Emergencies Ministry’s Ilyushin Il-76 plane has delivered 100 smokejumpers from the Avialesokhrana Federal Reserve with all the necessary firefighting equipment to Rostov Region.

A major wildfire was detected in Ust-Donetsky District, 2 km to west of the settlement of Topilin on 17 August 2017. Two Beriyev Be-200ChS water bombers, 2 Mil Mi-8 helicopters, equipped with bambi-buckets, were used the day before to stabilize the situation and prevent spreading of fire onto nearby settlements, dropping 350 tons of water. There is no threat of fire spreading onto settlements.

Task groups and the EmergencyResponseCenter of the Rostov Region Directorate of the Emergencies Ministry was deployed, fire and rescue garrisons are working in cooperation with local governments. The situation is under control, nobody was hurt.

Over 1,100 people and 250 units of equipment with 8 airctaft, including over 450 people and 90 units of equipment with 4 aircraft provided by the Emergencies Ministry are involved into firefighting operation.
