ROSCOSMOS cosmonauts Fyodor YURCHIKHIN and Sergei RYAZANSKI have completed their first, in 2017, spacewalk from the International Space Station (ISS) under the Russian program. The cosmonauts have accomplished their tasks.

The egress hatch was closed by the cosmonauts who had returned to the orbital station on August 18 at 01:11 Moscow Time. The duration of Fyodor YURCHIKHIN’s and Sergei RYAZANSKI’s stay in open space was 7 hours 34 minutes.

In the course of their work the cosmonauts installed on the outer surface of the station scientific equipment for experiments Restavratsiya and Impact, took microbial contamination samples in four working zones, installed new materials samples for long exposure to open space environment, launched five nanosatellites by hand and by a launching device, conducted a photographic survey of the surface of the Russian modules and their individual structural elements. To support translation over the station surface, cosmonauts installed soft handholds and braces. The handhold that was not installed was the one to transit from the Poisk module (MRM2) to Zarya module.

The health status of cosmonauts Fyodor YURCHIKHIN and Sergei RYAZANSKI after their return to the station is good. The crew of the 52nd international Expedition continues to carry out the mission plan.
