Emergency Ministry’s Mi-26 helicopter delivers 50 rescuers from Sakhalin Region

A Mil Mi-26 helicopter belonging to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations has delivered today from the town of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk an airmobile team of 50 people to help in dealing with the flash flood in maritime Territory.

The rescuers brought all necessary equipment – power generators, light, entrenching tools, pumps to pump out water from basements of flooded buildings, special tools to cut through constructions.

“The airmobile team is going to help the population: pump out water, dry buildings and clear yards,” said head of the SAR team of the Emergency Ministry’s V.A. Polyakov Sakhalin SAR Unit Dmitry Kublitsky.

2,568 people, 427 units of equipment with 74 boats, including 1,901 people and 427 units of equipment with 62 boats provided by the Russian Emergency Ministry, are involved in the relief operations.
