Until the end of 2017, the Irkut Corporation will build five Yak-152 training aircraft, three of which will be transferred to the military, and two will be used to speed up the flight tests of the new machine, Interfax reports according a source in the defense industry.
In 2018, the production plans of the corporation include the production of more than 10 Yak-152 aircraft. In total, the Ministry of Defense of Russia plans to acquire at least 150 Yak-152 aircraft for the initial training of pilots. Aircraft of this type are also interested in flying schools of civil aviation and sports flying clubs.
The source noted the export potential of the Yak-152, saying that Kazakhstan and Belarus had already expressed their support for the purchase of this type of vehicles for their flying schools. "The aircraft has not yet been adopted for Russian Air Force, but after that the demand for the Yak-152 on the world market is expected to be high," he said.
