Kazakhstan confirmed its intention to purchase from Russia two Su-30SM and four Mi-35M

Kazakhstan confirmed its plans to purchase from Russia two Su-30SM frontal fighters and four Mi-35M helicopters in 2017, TASS reported according by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan on Wednesday.

"In accordance with the terms of the protocol of intent signed on May 22, 2017 in the Moscow, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan confirms its intention to purchase Su-30SM front-line fighter aircraft produced by Irkut", reported in the Ministry of Defense.

According to the department, the Russian side confirms the possibility and readiness to provide timely delivery of aircraft and related equipment to Kazakhstan under the terms of the agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan on military-technical cooperation of December 24, 2013.

"This year, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan plans to supply two Su-30SM aircraft and four Mi-35M helicopters," the press service noted.

Earlier, Dmitry Shugaev, the director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of Russia, reported that in June 2017 a list of military products was received from the Kazakh side, including 12 Su-30SM aircraft under the agreement on military-technical cooperation of December 24, 2013. According to Shugaev, at present a contract is being signed for the delivery of two Su-30SM aircraft with maintenance and ground control kits, as well as with the Su-30SM aircraft simulator.
