The ‘sports capital of Russia’ is on red alert as Red Bull Air Race hits town for the first time ever at the weekend.
The fifth stop of the 2017 Red Bull Air Race World Championship sees Russia hosting its maiden race, while the race for the overall title is a close one.
Current leader Yoshihide Muroya leads the standings by just two points from Martin Sonka, with Pete McLeod, Kirby Chambliss and Petr Kopfstein hot on their heels and defending champion Matthias Dolderer far from out of things in sixth position.
As Kazan is brand-new race venue the pilots have been studying the track in detail and the lines they choose come the weekend will be very interesting. Kazan has 15 gates, flown in two laps. Some elements of the Kazan track are similar to the track in San Diego, but all will be revealed on Saturday.
