Crews of tactical aviation together with the Nizhneudinsk military forestry’s personnel are sent to extinguish a grass-roots natural fire at a distance of 95 km to the west of Bratsk. The area of ignition reaches 225 hectares.
For combatting against fire, the Central Military District’s command sent Mi-8 helicopters of the search-and-rescue air unit, based at the airbase Bratsk. All rotorcraft are equipped with VSU-5 overflow devices. The ground forces number about 50 military forestry workers and 10 special equipment units.
The actions of subunits are coordinated by the regional centre of an Administration of the CMD’s Staff in the city of Yekaterinburg, which is conducting general monitoring of the forest fire situation in the territories of the Volga region, Urals and Siberia. Interaction with local authorities and regional subunits of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry is established.
