Aeroflot and Sheremetyevo prepare for grand celebration of International Children’s Day

Russian Aviaton » Tuesday May 30, 2017 15:52 MSK

Aeroflot and Sheremetyevo International Airport invite parents and their children to celebrate International Children’s Day on June 1, 2017.

Terminal D will have special decoration, with special check-in desks adorned with welcome banners and arches made of balloons serving Aeroflot passengers with kids. Clowns will organise games, show tricks and give presents to the youngest passengers to ensure that they have a pleasant and entertaining start to their journeys. Young travellers and guests will be invited to participate in Masterslavl workshops, educational quests around the airport, guided tours of the History Museum of Sheremetyevo, and have a chance to test augmented reality technologies by bringing to life heroes of their favourite fairy tales.

The start of the celebration at Terminal D is scheduled for 16:00. The entertainment programme will finish at 19:00. The celebration will include a contest for the best drawing representing the “registrar’s office of the future”. The contest is devoted to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of registrar’s offices in Russia and aims at promoting family values. The contest will be open to children aged 3 to 18. At 12:00 and 14:00, KID.Travel together with TV-channel STS will organise “Secret Agents of SVO” educational quests. Children will have a chance to try out being members of secret service who upon arrival to the airport are asked to help find criminals trying to smuggle jewellery. All participants will get a free McDonald’s Happy Meal with a toy. Between 16:00 and 19:00, professionals from Masterslavl will organise workshops at Terminal D. Children will have a chance to learn the basics of working in veterinary inspection, airport security and travel agencies: the instructors will show how to carry out inspection, find fingerprints, pack luggage, and design tours.

Children will also have a chance to take pictures with Amur tiger Amur and the Far Eastern leopard Leya — the protagonists of Aeroflot’s on-board board magazine for children “Aeroflot. Young Traveller”. In 2017, the magazine was recognized as Best Corporate Media 2017 in Russia’s national awards, and came third in the On-Board Magazine nomination of the prestigious international ASTRID Awards. Captain Amur and flight attendant Leya travel around the world and tell children about their adventures with each edition of the magazine. An instant photo studio will be located in the check-in area along with a face-painting studio.

During workshops at the City Farm VDNKh family educational centre, children will have a chance to create souvenirs out of hay, listen to lectures about healthful plants, take part in the Find a Pair game which will help them to get acquainted with new plant species and learn which crafts can be made from recycled materials. Getting to know the farmers’ lifestyle will help children to learn the advantages of an eco-responsible approach to adult life. Devar will hold extraordinary workshops at the end of which the characters from colouring books will come to life on tablets in the colours they were painted. The characters will appear in high-quality graphics and will be supplemented by audio. Kids will receive colouring books with their favourite cartoon characters such as Smeshariki, My Little Pony and Transformers as gifts.
