Tajikistan to ban seven flights from Russia since April 6th in response to ban on Somon Air flights

Tajik authorities will ban seven flights of the Russian airlines to Tajikistan in response to the Russian ban on seven flights of the Somon Air to Russia, reports RIA Novosti.

The restrictions will be applied to Ural Airlines flights to Dushanbeand three UTair Aviation flights to Khujand, according to a source from the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan.

The Russian side on April 3, 2017 imposed restrictions on the Tajik flights from Dushanbe to Russia decreasing the number of flights performed a week. The ban was imposed after Tajikistanprohibited seven flights of the Yamal Airlines from Zhukovsky airport to Dushanbe.

Then the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistannoted that the sides in the framework of the protocol of the intergovernmental commission of the two countries signed on January 27 agreed to perform two parity flights from Zhukovsky airport: two flights of Yamal Airlines, and two flights of Somon Air.

Despite this, the Russian side demanded to allow seven flights from Zhukovsky violating the agreement. The Tajik side does not agree on this and will further protect its interests, noted the source.
