Airborne large-scale exercise with three Airborne formations of the Russian Armed Forces has finished in Crimea. The exercise was held at the Opuk range under the leadership of the Commander of the Russian Airborne troops Colonel General Andrei Serdyukov.
In course of the exercise, paratroopers operated in rapid reaction force grouping in cooperation with Black Sea Fleet and Aerospace Forces. They carried out airborne, tactic airborne and seaborne as well as anti-assault operations in cooperation with aviation, landing ships and artillery.
According to the Commander of the Russian Airborne troops, all participants demonstrated high level of coherence in course of interservice cooperation. The Airborne grouping acted as rapid reaction force.
More than 2,500 servicemen took part in the exercise. Up to 600 pieces of armored and automobile hardware, the Caesar Kunikov major landing ship, more than 45 aircraft (Il-76, Su-27, Su-24M, Su-25, Mi-24, Mi-8) were involved.
The exercise was held on March 20-24 in accordance to the training plan of the Airborne troops for 2017.
