The new-series cargo transportation spacecraft Progress MS-03, developed and built by RSC Energia, has been successfully undocked from the International Space Station (ISS), de-orbited, and brought down in the Pacific Ocean as scheduled.

According to the Mission Control Center, the cargo spacecraft departed from the docking compartment Pirs (DC-1) of the ISS Russian Segment at 17:25 Moscow Time on January 31, 2017 and began its free flight. After a while the main engine fired a de-orbit burn. The spacecraft began to descend and reentered the atmosphere. According to calculations of trajectory specialists at the MCC, its structural elements that had not burned up in the atmosphere impacted an area in the Pacific Ocean located far off the shipping lanes on January 31 at 21:24 Moscow Time.

Cargo transportation spacecraft Progress MS-03 was launched from the Baikonur launch site on July 17, 2016 and stayed attached to the ISS since July 19, 2016.

It delivered to the station 2406 kg of various cargos, including 1230 kg of dry cargo, 705 kg of propellant in the refueling system tanks, 420 kg of water and 51 kg of compressed air. The Progress MS spacecraft total launch mass including its cargoes was 7281 kg.

The spacecraft delivered to the ISS cargoes for the Service Module (SM) Zvezda, including life support and individual crew protective equipment, storage battery for power supply system, sanitary-hygienic and medical equipment, consumables for gas analysis equipment and thermal control system equipment, equipment for maintenance and repair of onboard systems, containers with food for the crew, filters, water storage tanks, hoses, etc. It also delivered to the station 22 kg of US hardware.
