Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport sees world's biggest flight delays

More than a half of flights are currently delayed in Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport where an AirBaltic’s jet overran the runway. The average flight delay time is about 50 minutes, according to Flightradar24 data.

Sheremetyevo currently faces the most challenging situation with inbound and outbound flight delays among all world airports (4.2 and 4 points out of 5 possible). 93% of flights are delayed for landing, with the average delay time of 55 minutes. About 70% of flights face the departure delay in the airport, with the average delay time of 47 minutes.

AirBaltic’s passenger jet overran the runway in Sheremetyevo Airport on Wednesday. The incident with the aircraft led to delay with the airport’s throughput capacity.
