Sheremetyevo International Airport summarized its activities with airlines, celebrating the most remarkable achievements and awarding the winners. SVO Awards 2017 took place for the third time and was attended by more than 100 representatives of airlines, tour operators and travel agencies.
First Deputy Director General for Operations of Sheremetyevo International Airport Andrei Nikulin said: “Sheremetyevo became one of the leaders in Europe in terms of growth of passenger and cargo traffic as well as punctuality of flights in 2017. This is a joint achievement of Sheremetyevo, Aeroflot and all airlines operating at SVO. Next year Sheremetyevo will join the league of the largest airport hubs in the world in terms of passenger traffic and terminals capacity. We are trying to create sustainable conditions for long-term development of airlines for the benefit of our passengers and country”.
Winners were selected based on the following criteria: flight punctuality indicators, commercial results and results of the passengers votes through official Sheremetyevo accounts on social media.
- airBaltic won the nomination “The most punctual foreign airline with more than 200 000 passengers per year”.
- Alitalia celebrated the victory in the nomination “The most punctual foreign airline 100 000 — 200 000 passengers per year”.
- Finnair took the first place in the nomination “The most punctual foreign airline with less than 100,000 passengers per year”.
- China Southern Airlines that operates flights to Sheremetyevo since 1994, has become the “Most punctual Asian airline 2017”.
- Severstal airlines became the “Most punctual Russian airline 2017”.
According to the voting results on social networks, the following airlines became the winners:
- “Best Russian Airline” — Aeroflot,
- “Best European Airline” — Ellinair,
- “Best Asian Airline” — Korean Air.
- flydubai won “SVO rookie of the year” award by passenger’s choice. Carrier launched regular flights on the route Sheremetyevo-Dubai in late November.
Royal Flight became a winner in nomination “No seats available” awarded to the airline with highest load factor (93%) among operating airlines at SVO.
Air France has won “Business travelers choice” nomination.
In the nomination “Family choice award — International airlines” the first place was taken by Bulgaria Air second year in a row with 13% children out of total passengers being carried.
Royal Flight ran first in the nomination “Family choice award — Domestic airlines” with 14% children out of total passengers being carried.
The winner was selected by airlines represented in Sheremetyevo airport in the nomination “Best partner airline”. Aeroflot celebrated the victory.
HNA Group was awarded for the active development of flights on the Chinese routes. Today four members of HNA Group operates on 5 destinations between China and Sheremetyevo airport: Hainan Airlines, Beijing Capital Airlines, Tianjin Airlines and Lucky Air.
Eight new airlines became partners of the airport in 2017 expanding the Sheremetyevo route network. Now 49 airlines operate flights to and from Sheremetyevo airport. Sheremetyevo airport welcomed two new aircraft types in 2017: Bombardier CS300 of airBaltic airlines and Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner of Hainan Airlines.
China Eastern Airlines has won a special prize of SVO Awards: the co-branded SVO club card by Sheremetyevo airport and B&N Bank. Airline representatives have successfully beaten all rivals in the table football tournament. The choice of sports activities and souvenirs was encouraged by the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup. Airlines will provide comfortable travels to football fans from around the world at Sheremetyevo airport during the tournament this summer.
SVO Awards was launched by Sheremetyevo airport to acknowledge the most significant cooperation with Russian and foreign airlines. This award’s mission is to encourage service and production achievements, as well as the development of Sheremetyevo airport route network.
