The Russian military will keep their S-400 systems in the Syrian port-city of Tartous and Hmaymim Military Airport near Jableh, the Kremlin’s Defense Committee on Wednesday.
This statement by the Russian Federation’s Defense Committee comes just two months after the Kremlin secured the sale of their S-400 systems to the Turkish regime.
The S-400 systems were first moved to the port-city of Tartous in late 2015 after the Turkish military downed a Russian Su-24 fighter jet in the northern countryside of the Latakia Governorate.
Since then, the Russian military has kept the S-400 systems on the Syrian coast in order to protect their forces inside the country.
