Russian Air Transport Agency allowed to put into operation of new Rostov Platov airport

Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) issued approval for the opening of Rostov Platov airport.

The airport features an ICAO category II, 3600m x 45m runway, an apron with 45 aircraft spaces and an apron for cargo operations.

Airfield infrastructure was developed using federal budget funds. Constructed airfield surfaces account for 17% of total airport area.

Earlier, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has ordered to open a Platov for international flights, the order will come into force from 27 November. At the same time decided to close March 1, 2018 located within the city’s existing airport and the old airport of Rostov-on-don.

According to the project, the passenger terminal of the new airport will have a capacity of 8 million people annually. Total funding amounts to 47 billion rubles, of which about 19 billion rubles are allocated from the main investor — group of companies «Renova». The first flight from the airport is scheduled for 1 December.
