Russian Emergencies Ministry’s jet to deliver 45 smokejumpers to Maritime Territory

The Russian Emergencies Ministry’s Ilyushin Il-76 plane will deliver 45 smokejumpers from the town of Chita to Maritime Territory to fight wildfires.

The plane took off at 10:20 PM (Moscow time) from Krasnoyarsk to Chita to deliver a group of smokjumpers to Maritime Territory and reinforce the fire fighting forces.

According to local governments, as of morning of 5 November there were fires at 2,000 hectares of area in the northern part of Maritime Territory.

350 people are involved into the operation. Additionally, over 100 smokejumpers are taking out fires in remote areas. An Emergencies Ministry’s Mil Mi-8 helicopter with bambi-bucket is used in the operation.
