Russian pilot made it into Guinness World Records performing 100 flat spin turns

A pilot from the eastern Siberian city of Chita, Leonid Kulesh, has made it into the Guinness World Records, having performing 100 flat spin turns while flying a Dragonfly ultralight airplane.

"I have received a letter of congratulations on my achievement that was added to the Guinness World Records," Kulesh told TASS on Tuesday. He posted the text of the letter on his Facebook page.

"I have already notified the aircraft manufacturers about the record," he added.

Kulesh made 100 turns flying a Dragonfly plane in August 2014 at the Kashtak Airfield in the vicinity of Chita, dedicating his flight to the centenary of the nose spin performed by Russian pilot Konstantin Artseulov in September 1916. In September 2016, his achievement was added to the Russian Book of Records.

Kulesh is a sculptor, architect and amateur pilot who is well known in the Trans-Baikal Region. He is the creator of a monument to Russian medieval ruler, Prince Alexander Nevsky, in Chita.
