The first planes landed at the new international airport Platov

On 18 November, the first aircraft A319 of Rossiya Airlines and Sukhoi Superjet 100 of Azimuth landed at the newest international airport Platov.

These were the test mode flights, the flights from the current airport will start shifting 1 December and it will close 1 March 2018.

Earlier, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has ordered to open a Platov for international flights, the order will come into force from 27 November. At the same time decided to close March 1, 2018 located within the city’s existing airport and the old airport of Rostov-on-don.

All airlines flying to Rostov will change the airport of departure and arrival to the new Platov airport, the director general of the holding ‘Airports of Regions’, Yevgeny Chudnovsky, said.

Platov international airport build in the Aksai district of the Rostov region, four kilometers from the stanitsa of Grushevskaya. According to the project, the passenger terminal of the new airport will have a capacity of 8 million people annually. Total funding amounts to 47 billion rubles, of which about 19 billion rubles are allocated from the main investor — group of companies «Renova».

The airport terminal is 50 thousand sq. m. There are 7 air-bridges and 10 gates for boarding by apron buses. Moreover, the airport complex contains a cargo and VIP terminal with an area of 2880 sq. m. The car parking is constructed to accept a maximum number of 2500 cars.

New Russian carrier Azimuth Airline will be based at Platov.
