Sheremetyevo International Airport was again recognized as the fastest-growing in Europe (+ 19.5%) in the third quarter of 2017 in the category of the largest airports with a passenger traffic of more than 25 million people per year, according to ACI EUROPE (Airports Council International Europe).

The volume of passenger traffic at Sheremetyevo Airport for the third quarter of 2017 amounted to 12 million 109 thousand passengers, which is 19.5% higher than the third quarter of 2016. For comparison, the aggregate passenger traffic of European airports in the same period increased by 9%.

“We are now experiencing a synchronized air traffic growth dynamic in the EU and non-EU markets. This is propelling airports across Europe towards record traffic results — with EU airports in particular having expanded passenger traffic by more than 20% over the past 3 years”, — said Director General ACI EUROPE Olivier Jankovec.
