Combined air crews have drilled firing at ground targets, and covering of ground units in course of the BARS 2017 tactical exercise main stage. The Russian and Serbian pilots were operating the MiG-29 jet fighters and Mi-8 helicopters.
In course of practical episodes, the pilots have drilled bombing, firing non-guided missiles and guns at targets on the training ground. The flights were conducted in adverse weather conditions.
Army aviation also practised airdrops hovering helicopter and landing on an unequipped platform.
The air crews supported by special forces from the ground also evacuated mock wounded using a hoist. The operation was covered by the Mi-8 helicopters.
The helicopters also drilled extinguishing fire using the VSU-5 water discharge device with capacity of up to 5 liters.
Jet fighters intercepted air targets on a considerable distance, dogfight as well as aerobatic stunts.
The flights were conducted at day and night. The air crews flew more than 30 sorties.
The BARS 2017 Russian-Serbian exercise is held in accordance with the International Military Cooperation Plan. Russian and Serbian air crews are operating MiG-29 fighters and Mi-8 helicopters. Up to 20 aircraft are involved in the maneuvers.
