In compliance with the State Defence Order, the Western Military District (WMD) units have received more than 30 the Orlan-10 and Eleron-3 short-range unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) this year.
In the 2017 training year, the total flying time of UAV training flights has made up more than 500 hours, which is 15% higher than last year. Such growth is caused by involving UAVs in almost all operational and combat training of the WMD troops this year.
In particular, drones are operated during various-level tactical exercises, live-fire exercises at the stage of adjustment. UAVs were also used by NBC troops and reconnaissance units.
The UAVs increase capabilities of troops to fulfil tasks, primarily by gathering and bringing the necessary intel to command posts in real-time regime.
