Russian Emergency Ministry’s rescuers use Falcon mini submarine to examine Russian Mi-8 helicopter sunken in sea in Norway

Rescuers of the Russian Emergency Ministry have used Falcon mini submarine to examine the wreckage of a Mil Mi-8 helicopter that crashed into the sea near Spitsbergen, Norway.

The Russian Emergency Ministry’s specialists lowered the Falcon 200 meters underwater to examine the helicopter’s hull and blades.

Thanks to the submarine the rescuers got necessary information on the position of the wreckage on the sea bottom which will help to determine the way of recovering the debris.

The crash site was found on Sunday 2 km northwest of the Cape Heer in the Barents Sea. More than 40 rescuers of the Russian Emergency Ministry are involved in the SAR operation.

Yesterday the Emergency Situations Minister reported to the Russian Prime Minister on the progress of the operation.
