Air Defence radar unit, Eastern Military District, drilled detection of air targets using the new Sopka-2 radar array complex deployed on Wrangel Island.
Specialists performed missions to locate and identify coordinates of targets simulating enemy’s aircraft, as well as receive, process and analyse data on the air situation in the zone of responsibility.
In addition, servicemen improved their professional skills in using the modern system. Moreover, they received data transmitted by airborne responders on the aircraft. The servicemen also measured distance, azimuth and altitude of air targets.
The training was conducted within the 2017 control examination
