At the airport Khomutovo in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk solemnly laid a commemorative capsule on the site of the construction of the airport complex.
Participants of the ceremony are planning to open a capsule in honor of the 100th anniversary of the airport, September 20, 2045.
A new air terminal complex worth more than 6.76 billion rubles (117,46 mln dollars) is planned to be implemented in two stages. In October 2017, preparations began. Full-scale construction will begin in 2018.
It is planned to build a three-story building with an area of 40 thousand square meters.
The capacity of the segment of domestic airlines will be 550 passengers per hour (with the possibility of increasing to 900 passengers per hour) and 250 passengers per hour for international lines.
