Northern fleet Air Force and Air Defence MiG-31 fighter jets successfully intercepted and eliminated air targets within the summer training examination.
The fighters practised in pairs over the Northern Fleet naval training grounds. Su-24 fighter jets were dropping bombs to imitate mock enemy means of air attack. Interceptors engaged them by air-to-air missiles.
Several flight shifts were carried out during the exercise. The jets scrambled to drill missions both by day and at night. Eight MiG-31 jets successfully intercepted air targets.
MiG-31 is a supersonic interceptor aircraft designed for combat with different targets on a wide range of heights and speeds. The radar with active phased antenna array and fire control system allow the plane to locate and strike enemy at a distant range.
MiG-31 fighter jets conducted training and combat interception of planes, cruise missiles and UAVs.
