Construction of the airdrome is being held within the implementation of the Strategy of development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation and maintenance of national security for the period until 2020, which had been approved by the President of Russia on February 8, 2013.
Currently, construction of the airstrip, command post building, utility lines, roads and other necessary objects are being held.
After the completion of modernization, the airfield will be able to receive most of the military transport aircraft types.
