Charter flights from Russian Siberia, the Urals and the Arctic to be launched to Tamchy/Issyk-Kul International Airport

There are plans to launch charter flights from Siberia, the Urals and the Arctic, Russia, to the Tamchy/Issyk-Kul International Airport, Issyk-Kul Region, Kyrgyzstan, according to Andrei Krut’ko, Russian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan.

According to him, within the framework of the project to develop productive sectors and strengthen ties with the tourism sector, the Issyk-Kul Region of Kyrgyzstan has plans to expand the airport in Tamchy (named as Issyk-KulInternational Airport).

“Currently, the airport takes flights during the day time only. The project is aimed to increase the number of charter flights from the Urals, Siberia and the Arctic. Because of this, we look forward to the arrival of Russian business including our retail chains and the food industry”, he said.

The Ambassador noted that the aim of this project is to promote the economic growth of employment through the development of interactions between tourism and industrial sectors in the Issyk-Kul Region.

“The project, which is funded by the Russian Federation at US $2 million, expects to develop manufacturing industries and their strengthening with the tourist sector through the implementation of tasks, such as the creation of infrastructure for the manufacturing industries in the field of agro-processing and the development of clusters and value chains. The next task is to improve strategic planning at the national and local levels to promote the positive impact of tourism on inclusive and sustainable industrial development”, Mr. Krut’ko added.
