Russian Helicopters Group to repair 4 Hungarian Mi-17 rotorcraft

Russian Helicopters Group, part of Russia’s state hi-tech corporation Rostec, will repair four Mil Mi-17 rotorcraft of Hungary’s Defense Ministry, Group Deputy CEO for After-Sale Maintenance Igor Chechikov said on Sept. 15.

"Russian Helicopters Group’s aircraft repair plant will overhaul four rotorcraft in accordance with a contract signed in July 2016. On Sept. 6, the helicopters were brought onboard an Antonov An-124 Ruslan [Condor] plane to Novosibirsk [in West Siberia]," Chechikov said.

Under the contract, the group will provide the helicopters with all necessary equipment.

The Mi-8/17 helicopter is produced by the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant and the Kazan Helicopter Plant that are subsidiaries of Russian Helicopters Group.

This helicopter is the most mass-produced twin-engine rotorcraft in the world. Helicopters of this type have been delivered to more than 100 countries. Their total flight time equals about 100 million hours.
