Russian Defense Ministry to purchase recon drones from Kalashnikov Concern

The Russian Defense Ministry has placed an order for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) with Russia’s arms manufacturer, Kalashnikov Concern, the company’s CEO Alexei Krivoruchko told TASS in an interview.

"Yes, there are orders for reconnaissance drones", he said, without specifying details.

According to him, new Zala drone models, including small airplane-and helicopter-type tactical operational reconnaissance systems will be displayed at the Army 2016 military-technical forum, which will be held in Moscow from September 6 to 11. The drones will also have new payload classes.

"In addition, we will show a new series of ground control stations with updated software and the latest version of a real-time controller with new functions and an enlarged screen," said the Kalashnikov CEO.

The Kalashnikov Group’s subsidiary, Zala Aero, manufactures a wide range of UAVs, including Zala 421-08M, Zala 421-16EM, Zala 421-16E (airplane-type), as well as Zala 421-21 and Zala 421-22 (helicopter-type).
