As part of the unannounced inspection of troops, aircrews of fighters, bombers and ground attack aircraft of the Southern Military District delivered a massive missile air strike against ground targets on Ashuluk range in the Astrakhan region.
The aircrews of Su-30SM, Su-27, Su-34, Su-24M and Su-25SM worked on using unguided missiles, bombs and small aircraft weapons against ground targets.
The pilots operated as part of regular pairs and flights at established intervals and distances, after the combat use of missiles they performed evasive maneuvers and avoided the retaliatory strike.
All in all, over 50 aircrews of operational and tactical aircraft of the Southern Military District were involved in this event.
Starting from August 25, the unannounced inspection of the Southern, Western and Central Military Districts, the Northern Fleet, the Main Command of the Aerospace Forces and the Airborne Troops Command, is held upon the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The activities are conducted within the scenario of preparation for the strategic command-and-staff exercise “Caucasus-2016”
The practical stage of the activities will take place at 14 combined-arms ranges as well as in the Black and Caspian Seas.
The unannounced inspection will last until August 31.
