Western MD army aviation crews started redeployment at operational airfields

Crews of the Western MD air units (located near Saint-Petersburg) have started redeployment at operational airfields within the unannounced combat readiness inspection.

Pilots of Mi-8, Mi-24, Mi-28N practiced preparation of helicopters for flight being covered by a wing of Mi-24.

The Western MD army aviation base has been put on full combat alert within the unannounced inspection of the Southern, Western and Central Military Districts, the Northern Fleet, the Main Command of the Aerospace Forces and the Airborne Troops Command, which is held upon the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

The activities are conducted within the scenario of preparation for the strategic command-and-staff exercise “Caucasus-2016”

The practical stage of the activities will take place at combined-arms ranges as well as in the Black and Caspian Seas.

The unannounced inspection is held on August 25-31.
