S7 Group mulling possible Embraer fleet

S7 Group is considering acquiring up to twenty Embraer Regional Jets airline sources have told Gazeta.ru.

According to Rusaviainsider, the aircraft most likely to be leased are EMB-170/EMB-175 types and, in the event a commitment is signed, the first two could arrive by December of this year.

Once in-country, they will be deployed on seasonally-sensitive domestic Russian routes such as Moscow Domodedovo - Nizhniy Novgorod, and Novosibirsk to Abakan and Kyzyl among others.

According to the CH-aviation aircraft database, there are several known commercial and private operators of Embraer machinery in Russia including: Aviakompania Petroff; Komiaviatrans; Orion-X;PremierAvia; RusLine; The Russian Copper Company; Saratov Airlines; Sfera Jet; and TopAvia.

For its part, S7 Airlines (part S7 Group) is largely an Airbus operation employing twenty A319-100 (including one CJ variant), nineteen A320-200, six A321-200, and two B767-300(ER) (set to be returned to AWAS shortly). Contrastingly Globus airline (also part S7 Group) is a Boeing outfit employing nineteen B737-800.
