MC-21 Fuselage Undergoes Static Testing

Irkut Corporation has commenced static testing on the fuselage of its MC-21 aircraft at an institute in Russia to assess its stength.

The OEM delivered the aircraft fuselage to the Zhukovsky facility last Friday (August 12), with other parts of the airframe expected to follow in the near future including the auxiliary power unit compartment.

It confirmed that the first stage of testing will include leaks inspection before static assessments commence, which will see technicians simulate structural loads in all flight modes with registration of stress-strain state of the aircraft structure.
