Basel Aero airports increased 7-month passenger flow by 15%

In January-July 2016, the airports of Sochi, Anapa, Krasnodar and Gelendzhik operating as part of the Basel Aero airport holding served 5.448 million passengers (+15% year-on-year), the holding informed.

The airports served 262,383 international passengers (-43%), the number of passengers on domestic air routes reached 5.185 million (+22%). The number of departures increased by 6% to 23,778, cargo and mail handling exceeded 7,280 tonnes (+24%), AK&M reported.

The passenger throughput of Krasnodar International Airport decreased by 9% to 1.612 million; the passenger throughput of Anapa International Airport increased by 24% to 756,260; the passenger flow of Gelendzhik airport decreased by 9% to ca. 135 thousand.

The passenger flow of Sochi International Airport increased by 34% to 2.945 million passengers, including more than 2.88 million domestic air passengers (+38%), over 64 thousand international passengers (-39%).

Basel Aero established in 2007 manages Basic Element's airport assets. Since June 2012, it has been operating as a joint venture of Basic Element, Sberbank of Russia and Changi Airports International (Changi Airport Group's wholly owned subsidiary). Today, Basel Aero is managing airports in Krasnodar, Sochi, Gelendzhik and Anapa. The airports account for more than 7% of Russia's total passenger traffic and ca. 1.5% of the total freight flow.

In January-June 2016, the passenger throughput of Basel Aero airports increased by 16% year-on-year to 3.976 million passengers.
