Russia’s flagship airline Aeroflot is ready to use planes of increased passenger capacity for flights to France during a strike planned by Air France pilots, an Aeroflot spokesperson told RIA Novosti Thursday.

Air France pilots have planned a strike for Saturday, just one day after the start of the 2016 UEFA European football championship in France.

"The possibility of a strike by Air France pilots for the period from June 11 to June 14 does not impose any restrictions on the Aeroflot flights to France. If it is necessary and possible, Aeroflot [on Air France's request] will promptly send increased-capacity aircraft to French destinations," the spokesperson said.

In May, it was reported that the Air France-KLM holding company had decided to cut pilots’ salary from June 1, as the company expected 2016 to be a difficult year financially.
