SCAT Airlines, Kazakhstan, has confirmed start of flight operations to the new ZhukovskyAirportsince July 2016.

“SCAT Airlines will start operating its flights since July 2016. Departures will take place fromAstana, Kazakhstan”, the Air Company’s Press-Service reported, according to RIA Novosti,Russia.

For a while, the air carrier is planning to operate three flights a week on this new air route. The flights will be operated by Boeing 757 and Boeing 737 aircraft.

Initially, it was planned that the first flight would be operated by AirKyrgyzstan. At least, the Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev said about this at the airport opening ceremony on May 30, 2016. Then, during a press lunch on June 15th, this information was confirmed by Eugene Solodilin, the First Deputy General Director, Ramport Aero, as he added, “The flight can occur on June 22ndor 23rd, the main thing that we will make this flight in June”.

According to experts interviewed by a www.dw.com portal, unavailability of the airport infrastructure could be one of the reasons to cancel the first flight. The airport itself says that everything is ready to take flights, and the delay of this process is due to delays associated with obtaining the necessary documents and approvals by the airlines.
