Flutter tests completed for SSJ100 extended range

Russian Aviaton » Thursday June 23, 2016 21:02 MSK

Moscow-based Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute(TsAGI) has completed flutter tests on the Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) extended range aircraft, which has a new wing with improved structure. According to TsAGI, Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Co. (SCAC) created the extended range model to comply with data collected during tests of its previous version, ATWonline reported.

TsAGI specialists will now analyze the results, but have said “they already take a favorable view of the extended range modification,” the institute’s statement said.

At the beginning of June, TsAGI announced it completed endurance tests for the SSJ100 extended range airframe. During the tests, it undertook 12,000 flight cycles.

“The endurance tests of SSJ100 airframe with extended flying range of 4,578 km will continue for several years. During this period, it is planned to simulate 162,000 flight cycles to prove the design lifetime of 54,000 flights for the main load-carrying structure of [SSJ100] aircraft,” TsAGI said in a statement.
