The Russian government is ready to invest up to RUB530 million ($8.3 million) in assembling the revived Let L-410 in the Ural region this year, ATWonline reported.
The first four aircraft will be assembled by Russia’s Ural Works of Civil Aviation (UWCA) at its Uktus Airport facilities near Yekaterinburg in 2016. The company will also create an infrastructure to provide local manufacturing materials.
In 2017, the UWCA will start avionics replacement; from 2019, all avionics will be provided by the local manufacturer. From 2020, the L-410 engines are expected to be manufactured by Russian companies in the Sverdlovsk region, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade said. Currently, the L-410 is powered by a GE H85-200 BC04 with AV 725 propellers.
The government estimates demand for the L-410 in the Russian regions to be 80 aircraft, according to Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Andrey Boginsky.
It is planned to link the L-410 project to Ilyushin’s Il-114 project, which has already been approved by the government.
The L-410 is manufactured by Kunovice-based Czech Aircraft Industries, formerly known as Let. In 2008, Russia’s industrial holding company, Ural Mining and Metallurgical Co. (UMMC), acquired 51% of Aircraft Industries. In 2013, the UMMC became the 100% owner of the company.
