Military transport aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces continues to extinguish forest fire in the Irkutsk Region

Crews of military transport aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces continue to monitor fire situation and discharge water in the region of forest fire in the Irkutsk Region.

In total, 5 airplane flights were carried out and more than 200 tons of fire-extinguishing liquid were dropped on June 14. Today, 4 Il-76 aircraft flights are planned to extinguish fire.

12 Il-76 airplanes and Mi-8 helicopters equipped with aircraft gas sprayers (VAP-2) and water discharge devices are on duty and ready to carry out tasks on liquidating and monitoring fire.

Airplane crews passed through special theoretic, training and practical preparation for carrying out monitoring and liquidation of forest and heath fire.

Duty force grouping for carrying out tasks on prevention of emergency situations of natural and anthropogenic character has been created in the Ministry of Defence. In total, about 12 thousand servicemen and 1.7 thousand engineer and special hardware are ready to perform assigned tasks.

Duty forces include engineer units, material supply, railway brigades, army and military transport aviation etc.
