Syria backed by Russian Airforces to attack terrorists - Syrian ambassador

Russian Aviaton » Saturday May 28, 2016 10:34 MSK

The Syrian troops in coordination with Russia will continue to pursue a plan on the fight against terrorists, including those from Jaysh al-Islam and Ahrar ash-Sham, as well as ISIL and Jabhat al-Nusra (banned in Russia), Syrian Ambassador to Russia Riyad Haddad said.

"Presently, all military operations, which are under way in Syria, are being carried out with support of the Russian Aerospace Forces. We pursue the priorities in the fight against terrorism in coordination with Russia. We have a plan to continue the liberation of Syrian districts under terrorists' control, should it be ISIL, Jabhat al-Nusra, Ahrar ash-Sham, Jaysh al-Fatah or Jaysh al-Islam," he told Interfax.

The ambassador said that the United States still had not attained the separation of the terrorist groups and the opposition, weapons supplies to terrorists continue across the border with Turkey and Jordan.

"Ammunition supplies still continue across the border with Turkey and Jordan. The jihadists are still reaching Aleppo from Turkey. The entire northern border turned into a corridor for the extremists to infiltrate," Haddad said.

Meanwhile, Russia may begin unilateral strikes on Jabhat al-Nusra militants (an extremist group banned in Russia) in Syria shortly due to the U.S. refusal from joint actions, the head of the State Duma defense committee, the former commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Admiral Vladimir Komoyedov told Interfax, earlier on Saturday.
