Russia has no plans to deliver US astronauts to ISS after 2018 — official

Russia has no intention of concluding more contracts for delivering US astronauts to the International Space Station after 2018, the deputy chief of the state-run corporation Roscosmos, Sergey Saveliev, has told the media.

"We are working with our partners under the effective contracts, but we have no plans for concluding new ones," he said.

Earlier on Tuesday Saveliev said that no contracts for a period following 2018 had been signed.

Currently the sole means of delivery to the ISS is Russia’s spacecraft Soyuz. The Americans started using it in 2012 when the last space shuttle was decommissioned. The United States is developing new generation manned space vehicles Dragon from SpaceX and CST-100 Starliner from Boeing.
