The Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations is ready to help Sri Lanka mitigate devastating monsoon floods.
Emergency Minister Vladimir Puchkov has sent the Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Disaster Management a telegram offering help. “I would like to offer practical free assistance of the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situation in response to a natural disaster under the Memorandum of understanding signed in 2009,” the telegram reads.
Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Sergei Voronov has held a meeting today in Moscow with Deputy Minister of Disaster Management of Sri Lanka Dunesh Kankanda. The two officials discussed the developing situation.
The Emergency Ministry helped Sri Lanka after a devastating tsunami in 2004, deploying Russian rescuers and the airmobile hospital of the Tsentrospas team. Back them hundreds of victims got help.
