IL-76TD EMERCOM of Russia took part in the exercise, held in the framework of the Integrated Safety and Security-2016 IX International Exhibition

Large-scale demonstration exercise was held on May 17, 2016 at the Noginsk rescue center (Moscow reg.). One of the most exciting episodes of the exercise was the use of Il-76TD EMERCOM of Russia to demonstrate the abilities to fight forest fires.

Il-76TD developed by “Ilyushin Aviation Complex” demonstrated ability to extinguish fires from the air with the use of WPA-2 spray tanks. Two WPA-2 tanks installed onboard Il-76 aircraft can accommodate a total of 42,000 liters of water or fire extinguishing fluid.
During final part of the exercise, Il-76TD took part in the air parade which included all the aviation units involved in the exercise.
Il aircraft is the main fire-fighting aircraft in Russia. Now they are used to extinguish wildfires in the Siberian Federal District and helped to defend several settlements against fire in the Republic of Buryatia and the Trans-Baikal Territory.
