On February 20, the ENGINEERING Holding’s subsidiary S 7 ENGINEERING, which operates two maintenance stations in Moscow Domodedovo Airport and in Mineralnye Vody, received a certificate of compliance with the Russia’s Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR-285). The certificate was granted by Federal Air Transport Agency and entitles the provider to perform all types of line and base maintenance, as well as component repairs for Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft (SSJ 100, certified as RRJ-95). Thus the company has become the first independent MRO provider in Russia to be approved for maintenance and repairs of SSJ 100.
Certification requirements call for trained personnel as well as all necessary tooling and equipment to be in place. “We had no problems with the personnel training part, but to own all of the equipment required for all types of maintenance works is a formidable investment, even for a large enterprise like the S 7 ENGINEERING. Therefore, we decided to rent the more costly equipment and tools that are rarely used from Sukhoi Civil Aircraft on terms beneficial to both parties,” Oleg Golomolzin, S 7 ENGINEERING’s director for quality, commented.
This practice demonstrates positive results all over the world, both in terms of reducing providers’ costs, as well as in terms of optimizing the maintenance costs for operators, as these expenses are not factored in the total cost of the product.
“Considering our experience and cutting-edge competence in MRO for different aircraft types, we intend to demonstrate the top-notch services and solutions for SSJ 100’s continued air worthiness,” emphasized Igor Panshin, ENGINEERING’s deputy director for planning and sales projects.
Notably, apart from the SSJ 100 the S 7 ENGINEERING’s FAR-285 certificate extends to Boeing 737NG, Airbus A320 family and Cessna 172.
