Russian and Spanish aviation authorities have agreed to increase the number of designated carriers for Moscow-Barcelona service from three to five for each side.
Rosaviatsia said it has increased the number of frequencies from 42 to 57 per week for each side. The additional frequencies will be allocated to newly designated carriers.
In addition, the number of frequencies for Moscow-Malaga service has been increased from 14 to 21 per week.
The new rules were agreed upon despite a downturn in Russian international traffic.
Rosaviatsia said both respective parties have agreed to increase the number of air carriers performing flights between the territories of both countries “except for the following routes: Madrid-Moscow (three carriers for each side) and Barcelona-Moscow (five carriers for each side.” It was agreed the airlines could use any type of aircraft on the flights.
