MiG-31 crews covered landing operation in Orenburg region

MiG-31 crews of duty wing have been alerted within the strategic command-and-staff training on controlling the Russian Armed Forces.

The pilots were to cover landing operation, which had been held from military transport aviation at the Totskoye range (Orenburg region).

The fighter crews completely controlled drop and landing zones of the assault groups using modern radio location equipment.  Moreover, the MiG-31 crews also intercepted aerial targets, which were imitating fighters of the simulated enemy.

The strategic command-and-staff training started on March 22, 2016. In accordance to the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Armed Forces, unannounced combat readiness inspection has started in the Airborne troops.

Moreover, military transport and tactic aviation formations are also involved in the inspection.

In total, about 30,000 servicemen, more than 3,800 pieces of armament and military hardware, and more than 100 aircraft are involved in the combat readiness inspection.
