ExoMars mission's second stage may be delayed for two years - Roscosmos

The European Union and Russia are discussing the possibility to postpone the second stage of the ExoMars inter-planetary mission from 2018 to 2020, chief of the Roscosmos state corporation Igor Komarov said.

"We have yet not finished the talks with the chief of the European Space Agency (ESA). The second part of the ExoMars mission may be delayed to 2020," Komarov said at a news conference on March 13.

ESA chief Johann-Dietrich Woerner has earlier spoken about the possible delay. This can be caused by the insufficient funding of the ExoMars project, he said.
