Since 2007 the training center of General Authority of State Airports of Republic of Turkey (DHMI) has been successfully operating full ATC simulator with visual system for 360 degrees based on Expert ATC simulator and developed by NITA.  Upgrade was provided after 8 years of operation.

The simulator provides initial training of the air traffic control students, and also professional development and refresher training for air traffic controllers. The simulator configuration consists of radar control module of including 8 consoles of radar and non-radar control positions, and Tower module of three workstations. The training is supported by operator pilots and supervisors at 15 workstations. The simulator is provided with full model of airspace of Turkey and the models of 7 airports including Istanbul, Antalya, Ankara, and Izmir.

The project included upgrade of the simulator hardware and Megaphone voice communication system that was specifically customized.  Also the simulator software functionality was extended, anti-virus protection installed, and remote control arranged for on-line diagnosis and software update. 

Besides, multimedia class was arranged to observe exercise execution process on a projection display. 

NITA specialists provided training course for instructors and technical personnel of the training center. 
In the result of upgrade the simulator of DHMI training center in Ankara was brought into compliance with up-to-date requirements to ATM personnel training for ATM centers and airports of high intensity of air traffic.
