The Russian A321 plane crash in Egypt has not negatively affected the relations and economic cooperation between the two countries, Egyptian Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade Tarek Kabil said Tuesday.

The second Russian-Egyptian business forum kicked off in Cairo on Monday. The Moscow delegation includes representatives of around a hundred companies from Russia, according to the Russian-Egyptian Business Council.

"Russian-Egyptian relations have deep historical roots, so the accident didn't affect them. Following it, we signed a contract on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Dabaa, and now, the largest [Russian] delegation in the history of our relations has come to us. We continue our cooperation," Kabil told RIA Novosti.

On October 31, 2015, a Russia-operated Airbus A321 crashed en route from the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg as a result of an explosion on board. All 224 people on board the plane were killed. The crash has become the largest civil aviation disaster in Russian history. Islamic State (IS) jihadist group, which is outlawed in Russia and many other countries, claimed responsibility for the crash.
